About us

A total of 27 bus stops for regular long-distance bus travel and non-scheduled journeys are available at the ZOB Berlin. Currently approx. 55 bus companies regularly use the ZOB Berlin for regular and non-scheduled travel. The total annual number of arrivals and departures at the ZOB Berlin rose from 65,000 in 2012 to 175,000 in 2014. A large number of regular routes links Berlin to all the big cities in Germany and to many regions in Europe. The ZOB's location has always ensured that it has a special position as the gateway to Eastern Europe. Since regular long-distance bus transport inside Germany was liberalized, the ZOB Berlin has gained enormously in importance as a central, high-capacity destination within Germany's capital city.

Operator

The ZOB Berlin opened in 1966 and was operated from 1999 to 2001 by the BVG (Berlin public transport) on behalf of the Federal State of Berlin. In 2001 the Internationale Omnibusbahnhof Betreibergesellschaft mbH (IOB mbH), a 100% subsidiary company of the BVG, was founded specially in order to take over operation of the ZOB. The IOB mbH's tasks include monitoring and controlling traffic at the ZOB by the traffic management system, providing information and personal customer service and operating the whole site. This includes marketing commercial premises, managing the car park and maintaining cleanliness, security and order.

Location

The ZOB Berlin is located on the western fringe of the Berlin inner city in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. The bus station is in the immediate vicinity of the Expo-Center City on Masurenallee and the Berlin Funkturm. It is very close to the Funkturm motorway interchange, ensuring fast transport connections to north and south (A100) and west (A115), avoiding the risk of traffic congestion in the inner city. The Kaiserdamm underground station and the Messe Nord/ICC S-Bahn suburban railway station are each about 400 meters away. Travel times by underground line U2 to the City West (Zoo station) is 8 minutes, to the City East (Alexanderplatz) 28 minutes. There are also direct BVG (Berlin public transport) bus routes to the City West.
